Looks like the boating industry is looking up.

At least this one report says so...

http://insider.boating-industry.com/...or-a-change-2/

I don't know how far, but it seems the local used boat business isnt'
great but doing better than regional new boat sales.

I've seen some improvement in our business as well. Not a huge amount, but
definitely a difference.

Mine is going gangbusters at the moment and will until about the end
of January of next year, then it will come to a screeching halt until
about the middle of March. My repair work is mostly for Agricultural
and industirial, and so here in the rural midwest, it's mostly
seasonal. Who knows, I might be able to go see some friends in Ft.
Lauderdale in the heart of winter up here, and do some deep sea
fishing....

But all in all I thing there's some over all improvement, I see the SP
Dow and other markets were up a bit today.....

I like to read any positive news, but this is hard to take seriously.

October? Who buys boats in October? Locally, prices have somewhat stabilized
due to the fact that the dealerships no longer have but a few boats
floorplanned. Some dealerships have given up brands that required an
inventory exceeding the dealership owner's comfort level.

I can't help but think the figures they quote a not representative of
reality. I'd like to be wrong.

The person who bought my Parker bought it in October. October 2nd, to be
exact. We're taking delivery of a new boat later this month. It was
ordered through a dealer in early August.

Took me less than a full week to sell my Parker. Ended up getting a
total of 14 calls and several emails, and three parties stopped by for a
look-see. The guy who bought it said he was sending a mechanic down with
a cashier's check, and if the boat was as described, the mechanic was
authorized to hand me the check in exchange for the boat and the
paperwork. That's what happened.

Agreed I thought it was a bit brisk myself, but it looked good, and
that's why I said:

"At least this one report says so... "

Then on the other hand Viking is considering another huge lay off.

It was pretty nice having most of the bay to ourselves all summer tho.

And I hear that you guys put water back into the bay in the summer
when there are no snow birds around. :-)

Snowbirds. Our season is just starting.
It will be back to the mangroves for us as all the new boaters are out
in the channel having their first crash.

Yeah, I can imagine.

originally.
