I'm not sure what the argument is here, but mine handled just fine back in Feburary running the rip on the way out to the center of the lake out by bomb island. *I was surprised actually because I thought it would be a little wetter than it was. *Once we got out to the middle, the wind with that long fetch was pulling up two/three footers and we stayed reasonably dry. *Drier than we would have been in the Ranger anyway. *:) Of course being a bit of a wind sail, it moved around a little but it wasn't bad. Did I tell you about my adventure one morning running up the lake almost to Greenwood? That was fun. *:) It was some silly huffing and puffing... Yeah, for an inland lake, Murray can get sloppy when the wind is right. So you ran up towards Lake Greenwood? I've heard that some people make the run up to the dam there on jetskis. It gets pretty skinny and shallow in the river. I've never been far past the double bridges on the west end of the lake. Espcially now since I'm on the far end, where your Ranger is. Looks like Archie is building more dry storage at Jake's. They are just breaking ground. Might be a chance to move yours inside, huh? |

No, I wasn't out in 120 knot winds. I DO understand small craft warnings and I heed them. I am an asshole, an earned appellation from those that **** with me. 5 footers at 40 MPH sounds like a bumpy day, but in the ocean, you deal with that because you have to. If you waited for lake boater conditions you would probably stay in the bath tub with your rubber ducky. Lake Erie is just a big lake. Don't give me the our really big lake is worse than your ocean crap. I've boated both and I know better. Pontoon boats are not greatly different from catamarans, which are known for handling rough seas with ease. Give it a few decades and come back when you have as much experience behind the wheel as I have and we'll talk. I didn't say that Lake Erie was any comparison for the Ocean. Erie is a shallow lake, and can pitch up VERY fast. I'm sure that 5 footers in the Ocean is a bumpy day on your 50 foot Boat. Mines 20 feet. And I personally don't give a flying **** how many " years behind the wheel " you have. You obviously know as little about Erie as I do the Ocean, so kiss my ass. " Tooners " are a flimsy deck strapped across two aluminum barrels. They are NOT meant for weather. Most have NO shelter on them, unless you foolishly consider a Bimini as a cabin, which seems more your style anyway. Go open another beer, and sit in your lawn chair. |
