Default *$&%# boats!

My friend visited us this weekend for the long weekend. We get ready to go
fishing, and so, of course, we need to mount the trolling motor I bought on
the bow. No great correct accurate good looking mount, mind you, we're in a
hurry. So we shoot some quarter inch lags into the ratty plywood that's
there with a promise to make it better next week or sometime after that.

Then the damn motor wouldn't work. It worked fine when the guy demonstrated
it where I bought it, which was from a craigslist ad. He was even a cop.
*******.

So we putzed a little, then decided to go watch drag racing.

Tonight, after he left, I took the bottom plate off the foot control, and
the last doofus in there had put one of the wires behind the in/out lever,
and the first time the foot pedal was depressed all the way, it pulled it
off the spade.

Crap. A missed fishing trip. Instant fix, rerouted the wire, plus squeezed
all the other spade connectors tighter. Works like a charm.

Well, at least now I have a good excuse to go test it.

Time to do some fishing. Time to do some work on the boat, too.

Anyone here have a boat?

Steve

I've stated here many times about fleet of several boats, including the
36' Zimmerman like lobsta' boat. For some strange reason, I only have
pictures of my Parker, though.

21' power boat, canoe, Hobie Outback Kayak, Agean Ocean Kayak tandem, and
float tube. Need one more single kayak for wife. Luckily no problems with
my electric trolling motor the last 4 years.

I had two Ocean kayaks. They were sturdy and stable, just got too wet in
them. Sold them. I see people bringing tons of them to Utah. Nice place
here to go kayaking, as lots of little lakes ban motors. Electric trolling
motors, too.

One time, we went to a small lake near Escalante. The camp host said there
was a boat that was left at the launch ramp for all to use. It was a
rowboat. My first time. It was easy, and went better over the water than I
ever would have thought.

If those spade connections are all exposed, and the back plate isn't
watertight, I'd hit them with some liquid electrical tape. It will seal
them and help to prevent them from coming off in the future.

Yes, I have three and a pontoon. All are surprising when the
maintenance flag pops up.

Does that make me "Capt. Hornblower?"

Better than being Capt. Knobgobbler, like Larry
