anybody boating this coming weekend?

so what are your plans?

I used to take a lawn chair, umbrella, binoculars, and an ice chest of adult
beverages to the boat launch at Lake Mead on Fourth of July. Then I had to
have the hernia surgery from laughing so hard. This year, I will be on
Cedar Mountain at my cabin. Ah, I do miss the old days. Wifey wants to
start some trout fishing next week, so it's time to fire up the old bucket.
Bout time for some fresh rainbow trout.

It turns out he is a non-swimming lab so all of that ramp/winch stuff
to get him back in the boat is not necessary.

A non-swimming Lab??
Still, if he fell in for some reason you should have a DOB plan in place
to
get him back on board.

I can drag his butt back on board but it wouldn't be easy. I am not
really sure how he would fall overboard tho,. He is not a "stand on
the rail" kinda guy.

Are you saying he *can't* swim or just doesn't like it.

Mr Ed likes a short swim, one lap around the pool but that is about
it. We were swimming the other day and he went for the second lap and
about half way around he was looking for the swimout. At the beach he
won't get in over his head and jumping off the side off the pool or
off of the boat is out of the question.
This won't be one of those diving dogs any time soon.

My dogs all dive, but none of them intentionally.

I'll probably take her out on the boat this weekend just to see how she
does on
the boat. Hopefully, she won't be as afraid of the boat as she is the car.

So...she's seen you drive!
Wait until she sees how you operate a boat.

Little buddy, you need to start consulting me again. That made you look
dumb.

have 4 days off...weather report says it should be great for the whole
weekend. *plan to put an air conditioner on the boat...make it cool
for the doggies while the wife and i head for the beach...

long beach island is nice...a little barrier island about 5 blocks
wide. * boat is on sheltered bay side, and beach is 5 minute walk
away...

probably nice a nice little boat ride down the island a few
miles...maybe up the island a bit to places we havent been...but
channel is very narrow there, about 20 feet wide with lots of traffic

meet up with some friends...enjoy some cioppino and try to stay on a
diet!

so what are your plans?

On the 4th we are going to launch in the Charles River in the early
(1:00 - 2:00 AM) and cruise down river. Depending on what the
anchorage for the fireworks looks like we may just anchor up then or
head out to the harbor for the morning bite and come back later.
Either way we will enjoy the fireworks and the Boston Pops / Toby
Keith concert from the boat. I'm taking the following week off and
want to make at least one trip to Stellwagen Bank for some fishing and
whale watching. There have been great white sightings and I even heard
reports of Orca spottings!
