court battle. The whole thing would have been funny if it hadn't been
moderately expensive. By the time the house was repainted, you
couldn't tell it from the prior color.

I guess you missed her response:

Patent law is the most boring, mind numbingly tedious branch of law in
the entire kingdom of jurisprudence. Back in the day when lawyers were
forbidden to advertise themselves, patent lawyers were the only ones
who were the exception to that rule and they were excepted b/c they
were few and far between, and they were few and far between because no
one in his right mind would want to practice patent law.

You're right in some respects. Some IP law can be quite interesting, which
is what attracted me to it. Some of it can be dry as dirt and it becomes
rote work, paying the bills without much enthusiasm. I got out of the boring
stuff and sometimes do the interesting stuff. My definition of boring is
working for companies trying to push through myriad patents about this small
innovation or that. The interesting stuff remains, well, interesting,
involving individuals with ideas I consider good. It's a sideline now.
Sometimes I even make some nice money, but that's secondary. My small
business pays just fine, so money isn't an issue.
