question on open cpn software
 

no one seems to be able to answer this question,...has anyone used
opencpn software? if so, let me know how to see the charts in the
active directory. when i go to 'tools' i see the kap charts there.
but there's NO WAY to actually SEE the charts. no way to call them up.
no command, no radio button...nothing. the program seems quite
useless.

well i got part of the answer. in the tools screen you have to select
'chart outlines' in the 'settings' screen. t hat will tell you what
charts are available. and i do see SOME, but not ALL of the charts in
the directory. are the charts kap or bsb?

got it. was a bit of a pain...was a matter of setting up the
directories so that the program would see them.

Hi, new to the site and actually came to it by asking a question myself. I can maybe assist you with open cpn. Did you select the chart folder where your charts are kept on your hard drive? Also do you have the correct charts?
I have all the zone charts and could point you to where to get them free if you dont.
