After a truly rough crossing from Lake Worth Inlet we arrived at West
End after only 13 hours. We had 3-6' steep waves even in 600' of
water for some reason. The Gulf stream was very strong and at times
we made only 3 kts. All 3 of us were seasick. The marina here has
very good wireless.
My daughter and her bf have only 7 days so I am leaning toward keeping
Ragtime somewhere in Freeport. Marsh Harbor might be a stretch for us
but we have to figure out what we want to do. Right now, none of us
want to go back across anytime soon.
Other boats at Lake Worth were supposed to be crossing but at 4:00 am
none of them were moving so we did it alone and were the smallest boat
we saw. The Coast Guard came by in a cutter and took all our info by
radio. I think it was just for training but maybe they thought we
were nuts to be crossing and wanted it "just in case".

You did good. Now you can cross that off your bucket list.;-)

Turns out that my daughter and her bf only 7 days off so we have a
severe time limitation. It is roughly 107 miles to Marhs Harbor.
Woulkd it be reasonable to try to get there?

David

Looking at the bigger luxury boats here, I am thinking "I am too old
for this spartan sailing thing with no amenities", yeah, I can do it
but comfort would be nice.
