responsibility for the mess it and its partners have created, the
pollution problems now facing Gulf Coast states and businessmen, the
unwillingness of the United States to defend its southern borders, and
who lives here.

My interest in this thread is whether BP will pay for all the damage it
has caused, or whether it will try to wiggle out. If it does wiggle out,
who will be stuck with the bill?

Why should BP pay for the failure of the US government to enact a plan,
on the books since 1994, to contain the effects of an oil spill in the
Gulf of Mexico. Obviously the US government failed to perform again. BP
did its part by paying taxes and fees to subsidize the the equipment,
manpower, training and the plan. Who dropped the ball? The US
government. Oh, and this occurred on Obama's watch and it is his
disaster and his fault.

I guess it is possible that you really are as dumb as you present here.

Who dropped the ball? BP and its partners in the Gulf platform that
exploded. The question is whether BP is going to assume the liability
and pay for the damages it has caused.

There is no reason for the taxpayers to pick up the costs of this
corporate disaster so long as the corporations have present or future
assets that can be used or attached. The platform was privately owned
and operated.
