I'll have to ask my Apple friend and see if he knows something about any restrictions. I'd guess it might be do-able with a 3G/4G iPad. -- http://tinyurl.com/ykxp2ym I think it's doable with just the wireless version... I don't really want yet another AT&T account. That's what I'm hoping anyway. Well, you are out of league with all this fancy telephone stuff. All I use my cell for is to make and receive phone calls... :) -- http://tinyurl.com/ykxp2ym Gasp. Maybe you'll be able to buy it ad hoc, whenever necessary. I'd just get it for flexibility. I suppose if it's just a home toy, 3G may never be necessary. Your iPhone is plenty good at gathering info while on the road. The only thing lacking in the iPad is the ability to play flash, which is pretty critical if you're using it to surf/playback video. Flash is getting to be very resource intensive and Jobs is hoping to push everyone towards HTML 5 but the reality is that he'll have to find a way to support flash unless he wants to limit iPad's utility. |

The iPad is, at its heart, a bigger iPhone. Must be interesting to iPad to all those sites incorporating flash videos and see what? A blank white rectangle? :) My prediction is that a goodly number of iPads will be dropped on the ground accidently as the leading edgers walk about town and look at their screens instead of the sidewalk or whatever is in front of them. You already see some of this with the iPhones, but it is easier to keep a grip on the iPhone. -- http://tinyurl.com/ykxp2ym |

The iPhone is perfectly fine for email and such. It's not big enough for serious web-browsing or movies. That breaks their monopoly. iPad will likely find a way to play flash through another Apple store application, which will disable any external Flash apps from running. It's a tricky business to run a monopoly. I'm waiting for the HP slate, it'll be a normal pc, open to whatever runs on pc. |
