Fun with the cable company
Our cable provider is having some sort of trouble today, so I had to
find and hook up my silly old modem in order to send off a 44-page manuscript. Anyway, I called the cable co to report the outage and while I was waiting for the gal on the line to get an answer to "why," she was starting to try to sell me on VOIP. I got a P4 *XP pro machine several months ago for $45 from GearXS and it is connected to the big screen. We have the cable digital TV, but I don't see myself giving up telco POTS for "cablephone."
