Update for anyone interested. John's surgery went well and he should be
home
early next week. It was a scary operation but now that it's done, the guy
ought
to be good as new for anyone who might be interested.

I guess I'm out of the loop. I've had most of the NG on ignore, and haven't
been following a lot of the threads. What type of operation was it?
