All went well. I'm home. Got out Saturday with a brand new 11" row of stitches
from bottom of sternum to just above Mr. Johnson. Getting along well. I
appreciate all the calls, emails, well wishes, prayers, etc., both here and
there and everywhere else.

Thanks.

Update for anyone interested. John's surgery went well and he
should be
home
early next week. It was a scary operation but now that it's done,
the
guy
ought
to be good as new for anyone who might be interested.

I guess I'm out of the loop. I've had most of the NG on ignore, and
haven't
been following a lot of the threads. What type of operation was it?

Steve

John had apparently been walking around with an Aortic Aneurysm for a
while now
and they were aware of it. After some recent changes they decided
to go in
and
repair it, done, he will be home next week.

That's a big one. I have the same condition, but it has been stable
for
years. It is right on the verge of operation. I hate the thought of
ANOTHER open chest operation, but there are only two choices.

Good luck to John. BTDT. The time will pass quickly into a memory, and
that memory will soften with time. I will be 8 years post op in
June. A
8.5 hour surgery for 5 way bypass and aortic valve replacement.

Steve

Mine was an abdominal variety, so they didn't have to open the chest.
The
incision started just below the sternum.

My aneurysm had been bumping along right at 4.2-4.3mm, but then
jumped up to 4.8
in a three month period. That's when they decided an operation was
called for.

Which we taxpayers paid for...we were ripped, once again.

And what will you say when you're medicare eligible?

That I paid for it through payroll deduction since, what, 1965, and it
wasn't provided through my sucking on the government teat and then
pretending I wasn't a retired government employee?

Don't "government" employees pay FICA taxes?

Some do. Some government employees obtain benefits in a different way.
