it resulted in a bunch of roads (most of them

the work was performed by crews already on payrolls.
All of the work was unskilled labor. The one "Great"
result was that a bunch of cronies -- the assholes
who make piles of cash selling over-priced supplies
to city& state governments -- made a lot more

A single large office building would have accomplished
far more for the local economy, and cost a lot less.

It would have provided jobs for everyone from masons
to electricians, plumbers to carpenters... in addition
to plenty of unskilled "construction" positions.

Republicans are assholes. They spent years staring at
the disaster that is Bush as crowing about how great
everything was. Stop acting like a ****ing Republican
douchebag... assuming, of course, you are capable of
stopping.

Bzzzt... Here's an example... but I certainly agree with the rest.

Pike Industries, a New England construction company with operations in
Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, was awarded
$31.5 million from the Recovery Act to complete roadwork construction
projects. The projects will create jobs directly and indirectly through
subcontractors and increased business activity at local sawmills, hotels,
fuel companies, convenience stores and coffee shops.
