Sometimes. Consistency seems to be the ingredient that's missing.

I rented a ford fusion recently. I wanted to rent a new taurus (renamed
from the "500" series, but the rental place was out of 'em. The fusion
was a piece of crap. It had 1500 miles on it, and already was beginning
to fall apart. The truck lid kept popping open of its own accord, the
shock or spring on the passenger rear side felt weak, the driver's side
front door wouldn't close properly, and it was an absolute slug getting
onto the expressways. I can't say that GM products are any better; the
last car I rented was a Pontiac and it, too, was a p.o.s.

I owned two Ford trucks, one a ford "splash" truck with a V-6. It was
trouble free. I replaced it with an F150, which had a slew of minor
deficiencies from the factory, including a front brake that dragged and
required many trips to the dealer before the whole assembly was replaced.

It would be nice if management and engineering at the U.S. auto
companies did more than *talk* about quality. Toyota obvious has had
some lapses recently, but I have a feeling management there will
straighten things out.

What could be more humorous than the right-wing nitwits here whining
about who owns GM? Who owns the highways you run your cars on? Who owns
the military about which you boys are always bragging?
