Political extortion

By blocking appointments related to our national security???????? Try again
dufus.

Please. You repeatedly engage in name calling.
Take President Obama's call for civility in discourse to heart.
It will make for better conversation, and less bitterness about the
failures we are all subject to.
Let's strive for success for all, and play within the rules of decent
conduct.

Unbelievable ...

A Republican Senator from Alabama has put what is by all accounts an
extraordinary "blanket hold" on almost every single nomination that
President Obama has sent to the Senate.

Good for him.

This is what happens when the Democratic leadership plays nice with bullies.
The country loses. And if Sen. Richard Shelby is successful, this kind of
extortion will only get worse.

Democrats, you can do it any way you like as long as it is my way. Or
at least that is what I heard from Obama the other day.

There is compromize and there is bending over, and they are not always
that far appart. When it comes to bailout corruption and dumping
bankrupt companies issues on taxpayers, I think fraud, corruption,
conspirancy to fraud, bull****, horse****, marxist, evil, moral decay,
taxation slavery for corporations.

At least 70 nominees to important positions at the White House, the federal
judiciary, and crucial cabinet agencies - including those charged with
keeping us safe from terrorism - cannot move forward until this hold is
ignored or lifted.

Could be Obama is picking too many corrupt butt kisses.

This is not just the typical Republican obstructionism, but a brazen brand
of political extortion. According to reports, Sen. Shelby will lift his hold
on the President's executive appointees if the Senate agrees to pour
billions of dollars into Alabama via two federal programs:

- A $40 billion contract for Northrop/Airbus to build air-to-air refueling
tankers in Mobile, Ala.
- The construction of a $45 million FBI lab outside Huntsville, Ala.

Now I wonder how many nutcases on this forum support Shelby's action.

Wait until November 2010. Hopefully will turf enough demcraters that
some sense will be resored.

Typical from someone who's afraid of his own shaddow.

Fortunately, you won't be participating.

Is that any worse than Landreiu and Nelson (both of them) selling
their health care bill votes in the Senate?

Yes, much worse! They didn't hold up important nominees. They held up a
flawed Senate bill. The "consessions" they got were good for their states,
or at least they thought they were. How is holding up judges' appointments
good for the country?????

So you agree the health care bill was flawed and don't think it was
important or good for the country. We agree again. ;-)

The one in the Senate, absolutely. I've said this several times.
