So I'm really not sure of the guy yet, but I'm beginning to take a
look at some of the stuff Al Franken is doing. like, standing up to old party hardliners on both sides of the fence, questioning the dubious acts of the Healthcare bill etc. Here' you read it and I'll shut up. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009...+Politics%2529 |

I don't find his attacks of Republicans and Lieberman very impressive. I think he's a glory hound. I really don't either, But I found this statement interesting: ""Sen. Franken is certainly not making friends on either side of the aisle," GOP strategist Ron Bonjean, a former Capitol Hill aide, told Fox News... .... Despite his freshman status, Franken hasn't shied away from confrontation with senior lawmakers, some of whom have spent decades in the chamber." Now I understand he's the new kid on the block, but I suppose what I'm saying is time will certainly tell if he's going to shake up capitol hill in a constructive way, or if he's going to do nothing but make a jerk out of himself, that neither side will accept or even really like. I'm watching. |

Some people don't like honesty if it runs counter to their politics. Hopefully Franken won't get corrupted by the sleazeballs populating the Senate. Leiberman and McCain are pure sleaze. They'll flat out lie with a straight face. McCain came to Leiberman's defense about Franken not allowing him to rattle on with his inanities, saying he never saw such a thing happen. Just saw a clip of the same thing happen to Byrd - in 2002 I think. Who objected to Byrd being allowed to continue rattling on? John McCain. Most of these guys don't deserve any respect. Best we can hope for is dueling to the death be made legal. Might thin out their ranks temporarily. More likely they'd stop their non-stop lying, the fear of the duel lending them some sense of honor. --Vic |

Steve I'm of the opinion that we need to make some changes to the old bribery scam that runs our government. Make it impossible for any person to hold any office for two terms in succession in the same office. If they are of quality, they could run for a position in the other house of Congress, President or supreme court justice "if qualified". Stagger all so they are rotated every two years except the President. The supreme court would rotate three of the nine every two years giving them a four year term. They can rerun for any position as many times as they are able to succeed just no two terms in a row. More than a limited two party system and do away with a representative republic with the electoral college. Direct vote by the popular vote to rule. The country is smaller in it's ability register a vote at the speed of light that the internet and phone lines represent. Make some real changes quickly. Pull out and discard the weeds as it is. We will never achieve self rule with an antiquated constitution. We were brain washed from elementary school that this is the best and only system. It is no longer a living document. It has been choked to death by a ruling party system that only represents two limited views, for limited amounts of time. Always for sale. We now have a bunch of "GOLD" bricks that know nothing except were to hide the gold. For the rest of you, keep rowing up stream, the falls are still behind you. Sorry, there is no link for this. |
