This isn't a plan for "reform"...
It’s an escape hatch for Senate Democrats who have trapped themselves
in a highly unpopular effort. Even the New York Times thinks this is a bad idea. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/11/he...sure.html?_r=1 “Extending this successful program to those between 55 and 64 would be the largest expansion of Medicare in 44 years and would perhaps get us on the path to a single-payer model,” said Representative Anthony Weiner, Democrat of New York." Yep - that's about it. Well, single payer for everybody except for Federal, State and Union employees - they get to keep their private insurances. |

Plus it also has over 100 references to items that leave the implementation to the Dept of health and services. We do not know what to do, so the Secretary of the Dept can do what she wants. This is one fubar bill. Does nada for lowering the cost of healthcare for the small percentage of those without insurance, just who pays for it. Same people that always have. The taxpayers. Come one. On the one hand loonies complain that the bill is too long, then others such as yourself complain it's too long. Which is it? I believe it's actually 2047 pages, but so what? Implementation is typically left to the departments. There's no way to include every possible action in a bill. More right wing diatribe that has nothing to do with healthcare reform. You really need to stop getting your talking points from talk radio. -- Nom=de=Plume A bill of this size and import should not leave a lot of the critical items to be solved later by the dept. The Legislators can not argue the implementations. |

He goes to jail for more than a year, felony, and the kid ends up in foster care, or the mom and kid end up sleeping in a shelter. Just like a lot of other mandatory sentencing laws. unintended consequenses rule. So, by your philosophy we should not try to do the right thing. That's a pretty low standard.
