dry rotted floor?

In article 1419838c-e4a0-43e5-942e-
, says...

OK, the little boat is a 1983 Chris Craft. While flushing it for the
season end, I was climbing in and out of the boat and about two feet
in front of the engine cover I felst something spoungy in the floor.
and it made sord of a squishy cracking sound. Oh man! Don't tell me
the floor is giving out.

I've always taken care of the craft and never let it sit out to where
the floor would be in the damp, that is unless running it around the
lake with wet kids. The floor is solid every where else except in that
one spot. Of course the floor is springy where there isn't any bracing
but I figure that is normal until today.

Even though well taken care of, I realize the boat is 25 yr old. but
with the care I take of it plus the previous owners, can a floor just
normally rot out when it's kept normally dry?

I hate pulling the seats, peeling off the carpet and replacing the
wood.

But......

Just replace the portion of floor that's rotted.
