Cop killer suspect shot and killed
 

Maurice Clemmons, the suspect wanted in the slaying of four Lakewood
police officers, was shot and killed in South Seattle early this
morning by a Seattle police officer making a routine check of a stolen
car.

The shooting occurred about the same time as Pierce County sheriff's
detectives took into custody a man believed to have acted as a getaway
driver in Sunday's slayings of the Lakewood officers. Police also
booked four people into jail on suspicion of providing assistance to
Clemmons, said sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer.

One of those arrested is the alleged getaway driver and is believed to
be a former cellmate of Clemmons in Arkansas, according to law
enforcement and KIRO-TV.

Several other people also will be taken into custody for helping
Clemmons, Troyer said.

Clemmons, who was armed with a handgun taken from one of the officers
he is accused of killing, was shot in the 4400 block of South Kenyon
Street during a confrontation with a South Precinct patrol officer,
police officials said. He refused commands to stop and was shot by the
officer about 2:45 a.m., the officials said.

Well, I'm not sorry to see the perp die, but now we'll never know what
the hell was behind his shooting of four people, other than "suicide by
cop."

He told several people to watch the news, that he intended to kill
some cops. That information never made it to authorities. He was
clearly disturbed and suffered from episodes where he just went nuts.

Evidently, both friends and family have been helping him the last
couple of days. Seems weird but expect he was threatening them. He
certainly has proven he's a man of his word and not afraid to do
anything. He had just been released from jail for molesting an
underage relative so I'm guessing whomever was helping him may have
been afraid for their own safety or the safety of their family.

It was clearly a plan. They say they have a guy in custody who drove
the getaway car after the shootings. I'm sure there'll be more info
coming out.


I can't imagine how the families of the police who were killed feel... how
sad. This guy was clearly deranged, and he should have not been let out.

The guy who drove the getaway car was a cellmate in Arkansas.

Yeah, I've heard about his plan to kill cops. Nutcase for sure.

If I had a relative in that much deep doo-doo, the first thing I
would do is call the cops and hope for a peaceful surrender.
What if he showed up at your house armed and crazy and told you he'd
kill you and your kids if you did anything he didn't like...

Not saying that's the case but it's among the possibilities.

Well, if he's holding us hostage inside the house, we obviously
cannot call the cops. If he left, I'd call...and if he came back, I'd
shoot him. I don't have a lot of tolerance for murderers.

If he's a relative and knows where everyone else lives, knowing that
he could well be headed to the next relative's house, I'm betting
you'd think twice.

I would kill the SOB in a second. You need to get a gun so you can kill.
