Psalm 109:8 Where have I heard that before? Oh, John Herring.

Praying our President is murdered. You disgusting piece of ****.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow is concerned that President Obama's trip abroad
has served to bring out "the unhinged among the president's critics."

Not only have the Wall Street Journal and the hosts of Fox News been
issuing their usual dark mutterings, but a new slogan has began
appearing on bumper stickers, tshirts, and even teddy bears: "Pray for
Obama: Psalm 109:8."

That psalm reads, “Let his days be few; and let another take his
office. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow."

Maddow seemed mainly amused by the teddy bears, but when she turned
for comment to former right-wing evangelical leader Frank Schaeffer,
he emphasized that in a religious context "it means something more
threatening."

"The situation that I find genuinely frightening right now," Schaeffer
explained, "is that you have a ramping up of biblical language ... and
what it's coalescing into is branding Obama ... as 'not us.' ... Now
he joins the ranks of the unjust kings of ancient Israel ... who
should be slaughtered, if not by God then by just men."

"Really, this is trawling for assassins," continued Schaeffer, "and
this is serious business. It's un-American, it's unpatriotic, and it
goes to show that the religious right, the Republican far right, have
coalesced into a group that truly want American revolution. ... They
cannot be dismissed as just crazies on the fringe. ... This bumper
sticker simply says to them, 'It's open season.'"

Appearing increasingly agitated, Schaeffer went on to say, "This is
the American version of the Taliban. The Taliban quotes the Koran, and
Al Qaeda quotes certain verses in the Koran, in or out of context,
calling for jihad and bloody war and the curse of Allah on infidels.
This is the Old Testament biblical equivalent of calling for holy war.
.... And what surprises me is that responsible -- if you can put it
that way -- Republican leadership, and the editors at some of these
Christian magazines .... do not stand up in holy horror and denounce
this."

"I would just say to them, 'Where the hell are you?'" Schaeffer
concluded. "'This is not funny any more, and be it on your head if
something happens to our president.' ... There are not many steps left
on this insane path."

These are the same assholes who come to rec.boats as sock puppets and
change their names like little children who have to be heard.

Sick loons.

No thanks, I just had dinner. I see you're off in sci-fi world again.

Here's Herring's post...

Subject: Psalm 109.8 A prayer for 'Bama

Body: Please say it often.

Question: What kind of man wishes our President to be murdered so
someone else takes his office, his kids fatherless and his wife a
widow?

Is it something you'd pray for?

The Psalm 109:8 KJV states. "Let his days be few; and let another take
his office."

Nothing is mentioned about murder in that passage JPS. I suggest you
are purposely twisting the scripture and following the prevailing
party orders. Either that, or you have a deep lying paranoia.

Or both.

Open death threats against Bush were very common when he was
president. Use google and you can find many examples of people with
signs threatening to either kill Bush or advocating his death. Libs
never got their panties in a wad over those.

I see you conveniently left off the part about him leaving his kids
fatherless and his wife a widower.

What about that doesn't suggest murder? Are you praying for his
natural demise?

Is that something you condone? Tell others to participate? Let the

Trying to make a futile attempt to read between the lines, JP?

I haven't left anything out of that specific verse. Conveniently, or
otherwise.

There is nothing in that specific verse that indicates a death wish
upon anyone.

However it is noted thatyou wish harm and homoxesual acts to fall upon
various of those who express views that are contrary to yours. And I
would suppose you teach your children (understanding that you are
truthful when you say you do have children) to do the same. After all,
most kids look to their father to lead by example.

Not only have the Wall Street Journal and the hosts of Fox News been

That psalm reads, “Let his days be few; and let another take his

Maddow seemed mainly amused by the teddy bears, but when she turned
for comment to former right-wing evangelical leader Frank Schaeffer,
he emphasized that in a religious context "it means something more

"The situation that I find genuinely frightening right now," Schaeffer
explained, "is that you have a ramping up of biblical language ... and

enjoy the show. Want some popcorn?

He is quoting a different verse. Psalm 109:8 says, "Lett his days be
few; and let another take his office."

Psalm 109:9 says, "Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a
widow."

No one I know of, except jps, has used 109:9 in reference to anyone.
Some asshole on the radio tried the same thing yesterday. It didn't
fly either.

He got elected. He's black (well, half). He has a nice-looking wife and
two smart kids. Did I mention he got elected?

Mulatto would be the proper term.

Is that important to you? Seems to me that it's grossly unimportant, but
you're welcome to have the last word on the subject.

Dear lady, you needn't have mentioned it, then.
Your humble servent,
Achmed

I'm wondering if it (the Plum) works for NASA. It sounds like a space
cadet to me!

Reich-wing trashmeisters are scared to death of smart people with much
better tans (and brains) than they have.

And by the way, You and your President have proven that 'brains' are
not a requirement for popularity.

That was proved most recently by the election of GWB to two terms in office.

And proven in an unambiguous fashion.

Speaking of Galiano Island, we were there three days after 911 and
because the kids were with us, we couldn't eat inside the pub. They
had nice tables out on the lawn and it was a warm summer eve. Another
couple was in the same situation with their daughter and we were
sitting close so a conversation was struck.

They were from Germany and after a while politics came up. They
stepped very gingerly into the subject of Bush and when they saw our
reactions they asked us why in the world we hired the village idiot.

I seriously doubt they'd think the same of Obama, and they'd be right.
