Sounds pretty dicey.
No thanks.

I've done this. It's not too bad in a decent boat and a nimble guy at
the controls.

How was the catch? Any "close calls?"
Would you do it again? (-:

One can hope...

If you are flajim, herring, loogy, GC boater, johnson, topbassdog, rob,
or one of a half dozen others, you're wasting your time by trying to
*communicate* with me through rec.boats, because, well, you are among
the permanent members of my dumbfoch dumpster. As always, have a nice,
simple-minded day.

It's not that unusual a technique. Guys with shallow draft boats like
the Ranger fish The Race like that all the time - in particular with a
strong tide between Fisher's Island and Race Rock.

In fact, I think Scott was with me one time when we fished Fisher's
Island point on an incoming tide. Very similar technique.

Great for stripers.

Yeah! So where were the frekin' stripers...;) Still doin' "Ike" Dec
5th? If so, I'm in... Promise I will not sing;) !!

If you had been with me, I would have tied some leaders and hooks onto
your arms and legs, poured some fish oil over you, and tossed you
overboard as a drift fishing bait.

Just seems you should be able to catch fish without much work at all.
Bouncing around and all that. Nope.
Just use that boat to get there, drop in a baited hook, put a bell on
the rod tip, lean back and fall asleep. Yep.

No close calls, but a little "excitement." We caught a bunch but of
reds but not as many as the guy in the clip. The guy in the clip
would have violated the creel limit in our jurisdiction - by a lot.

Under the boat - can't help it if you're to inept to catch 'em.
