We had 75 kids - not bad - about average.

Of course, I stole all the Baby Ruth bars out of the goodie basket
before it was time to hand them out. It's my one weakness. :)

We had about 40 which is slow for this neighborhood, but it was a bit
rainy for a while soo..... Anyway, I can't eat chocolate anymore so I
stole a butterfinger and left it at that...

Pew Research annual survey of cable news audiences now shows:

FNC: 39% Republican, 33% Democratic, 22% Independent
CNN: 18% Republican, 51% Democratic, 23% Independent
MSNBC: 18% Republican, 45% Democratic, 27% Independent

The survey shows Fox News' demographic is rather balanced amongst
Republicans, Democrats and Independents.

CNN and MSNBC's audience is slanted towards the Demoncrats.

Fact is that the 33% Democrats watching Fox is way more people than
the 51% watching CNN or the 45% for MSNBC... due to the fact that
Fox has three times as many viewers.... same thing is true for
independents.

About 30-40 kids stopped by, lower than usual, probably because of the
rain. Neighbor way down the street had a bonfire party for the kids,
with music, hot dogs, soft drinks, et cetera, which I though was a great
idea.

Kids still Trick or Treat there? They really don't around here. You'll
see a few kids out in certain neighborhoods, or, parents will drive them
around to friends houses, but for the most part, it's a dying tradition
here.

Funny, though, I read somewhere we spend more money on Halloween than any
other holiday, except Christmas.

Well, we usually have a lot of kids here because a few of us in the
neighborhood put out displays and try to scare the kids back. Last few
years my dad handed out candy, of course this year he was only here in
spirit. Our neighborhood is loaded with kids and the side streets make
for good trick or treating, a lot of parents from the other side of town
usually bring their kids here too.

It was fairly slow here too. Weather was good. It is still 77 at 2300
I had a bunch of candy. Publix had a buy one, get one and I screwed up
and got two that didn't go together so I ended up with 4. The guy at
the register threw in the extra 2 while he was ringing me up.
It didn't occur to me how much candy that turned out to be until I got
home. I was giving it out by the hand full. The last group just got
the bucket dumped in their bags.

The best part is all the mom's around here seem to use halloween as an
excuse to dress up as hookers, cheerleaders or naughty witches.

We have lots of 4 wheelers, golf carts and one guy pulling kids in a
wagon behind a lawn tractor.

The question is, if you are a teen, old enough to trick or treat in
your car, is that too old? I had a group of them too.

We had a bunch of kids show up on bikes, no costumes.. I looked at then
and said, awesome nerd costume dude.. Then I gave them some candy
anyway;)

It's interesting. We've been here thirty years and it goes in cycles.
When my kids were little, it wasn't uncommon to have 100/150 kids pass
through. Then it dropped down to 23/30 for a while, then picked up
again, then down again and now it's on the upswing.

I think it has to do with how many little ones you have in the
neighborhood. We've seen a recent turnover in younger families moving
into the neighborhood, so we're seeing more little ones and thier
brothers and sisters taking them around.

When I was doing the Haunted House thing along with a couple of
friends, we averaged 100 or so. The oldest had 200 some odd and my
youngest boy down in SC had 500 - then again, he lives in a
neighborhood with a lot of kids.

I still enjoy Halloween. It's tradition to watch Rocky Horror Picture
Show every Halloween Eve and I like to see the kids and thier costumes
- it's fun.

There's a couple over in East Putnam who go all out every Halloween -
it's amazing what they do with a Haunted Graveyard, Haunted House,
spooky stuff. The local amateur theatre company participates with
actors, makeup and music - live bands and stuff. Ton of fun.

My wife and I were trying to make sense out of it. The number of kids
here in the neighborhood is actually higher than it was last year but
half as many showed up. I am thinking the fact that this is Saturday
may have encouraged more parties and less ToT. I took the 3 year old
around in my cart after the kids slacked off because he wanted a ride
and I did see, what looked like, 3 parties going on.

That's a good point. Around here, there isn't much to keep kids busy
being very rural. They do have a Halloween dance type thing up at the
Academy every year and the FD does a Halloween open house.

Hey - times change.

We had a beautiful night here...60F temperature.
Visitors were slow coming and we had maybe 35 in total. (in past years we

Trouble is...we had 130 small bags of chips and 100 small chocolate bars.

I'm glad you can adjust easily, Tom. I never could. Had a blast
playing at the party last night, though. got home late, and still got
up at regular time this morning. After services, I came home hoping to
get some kind of a nap and that didnt' work either. Same thing happens

end.
