"Harold Krause" sounds like an American hero or a huge, lying, narcissist.

Golly Stevie, you sound like you're brand spankin' new to rec.boats.

Why not start by telling us about your boat.
14' Jon w/25HP Merc. What do you have?

A rowboat built by Snotty Ingersol with long life house paint and a
rusty trailer, with a 25 HP merc.

Want to trade? I'll take it for even money. You pick up and deliver to
Windermere, FL.

-S

I wouldn't own a Snotty boat. Mine's a Whaler with mahogany seats and
a steering station in excellent condition. Rigged for a davit.

Wouldn't trade it for the world, unless someone showed up with $5K
cash. Then I'd be boatless.

$5K? Does it have a motor?

-S

25HP Merc. Sound familiar?

In bad shape, eh?

-S

It's in excellent condition. Did you pay too much for your jon boat?

It's a mid-90s 11' Whaler with a steering station, mahogany woodwork,
stainless railings, weaver davits, rigged for a transom davit and has
a trailer. If I were offered $5K I'd take it.

Does that sound unusual to you? That's what they go for on the west
coast.

Mid '90's. Now that makes sense. A Merc 25 4-stroke is nearly $4K.
Jon boat is $2K and the trailer is $1K tops. Add rigging and you are at
$7K minimum - for a Jon. $5K for a Whaler in good shape with a strong
25 2-Stroke and trailer sounds about right.
