Damn - that's up 20 meters from his last "projection". Hasn't he ever heard of displacement? Hello - ice floats? The Arctic is a ocean? Hello - anybody home? There's a difference between ice shelves and ice sheets. Ice shelves float, and their melting would have a negligible impact on sea levels. However, ice sheets, such as those that cover Greenland and Antarctica, if they were to *totally* melt, would raise sea-levels @80 meters, according to USGS. http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/fs2-00/ Stop confusing SW "Scientist" Tom. He'll have to make another call to JustHate a Scotty for fact mystification. |
