The scariest story told this Halloween - the most terrifying words

Get it - Bloody? Gore? Halloween?

Er...anyway....

"If the North Pole were to melt it could increase sea levels by 67
metres, Gore said, speaking in the heart of an oil-rich region not known
for its regard for the environment."

220 feet? Damn - that's up 20 meters from his last "projection".

Hasn't he ever heard of displacement? Hello - ice floats? The Arctic is
a ocean? Hello - anybody home?

There's a difference between ice shelves and ice sheets. Ice shelves
float, and their melting would have a negligible impact on sea levels.
However, ice sheets, such as those that cover Greenland and Antarctica,
if they were to *totally* melt, would raise sea-levels @80 meters,
according to USGS.

Stop confusing SW "Scientist" Tom. He'll have to make another call to
JustHate a Scotty for fact mystification.
