Nope, flagging is pretty serious stuff, gotta' keep your eyes up and
down the track. Can't help anybody if you get run over;) My jump had the
only serious injury of the day, the girl went down and I had to jump out
onto the track to keep her from getting run over, again.

I am pretty well known for my action in such situations even though this
was not the regular crowd, I kinda' took control. I signaled the
officiating crew. After they red flagged the race and I called 911 and
got the bus rolling. After that I took a second and calmed her down by
touching her lower legs so she could see that it was not as serious as
she thought (really just to calm her down, I have been known to lie to
victims to calm them down, whatever it takes) and see how she was
responding. Once her boyfriend and another friend were with her I got up
and sent The Mouse (who was flagging the start/finish line) to gather
blankets from the truck and other spectators to cover the girl up for
shock.

Once she was calm and covered I went through the parking area to the
main gate, stationing adults every 50 yards or so to make sure nobody
blocked the way in, and waited for the bus. on the way "to" the gate,
Kris, a track employee helped plan which way we were going to bring the
bus in so they wouldn't get stuck, she knows the layout better than me.
When the cops and rescue got there I had follow me in as I trotted
through, leading them in as close as we could get to the girl. Kris
(noted above) would usually do most of these things, but yesterday was a
special event and the place was packed. While I waited for the bus
another guy grabbed the skidder and made sure the way in was clear of
mud and debris. Mike really made that machine sing, got us right into
about 50 yards from the scene.

Looks like she is gonna' be alright though, might have a broken tail
bone but the paramedics rolled her onto a back board and she was on her
way. She is 23 and was pretty scared at first, but thanks to a few good
friends and the professionalism of everyone on the scene, she was
smiling and joking as they loaded her into the bus. The Rocky Hill CT
rescue crew are about as professional as any I have ever seen.

Over the years I have always been known for being the one who keeps calm
in situations like this, always have been. Last time I was even "calm"
enough to let my buddy Ray-Ray run the scene, knowing he is a 20 year
veteran of a local big city fire department. He did a great job with
Bri, I just stayed in her ear, telling her what was going on and holding
her hand while they tried to get her gear off. That one got to me
though, after the chopper left, I broke down and cried like a baby, but
she never saw that...;)

But yeah, guess I could have waved between motos;)

Just a followup for those interested. Jenny is going to be fine, a bit
of a stinger and a broken tail bone. No other damage, she will be
sitting on a donut for a while, but should be racing again in a few
weeks...

At what point do you idiots stop exposing your minor and adult children
to needless dangers? When one of them is killed or permanently put in a
wheel chair?

Morons. You all should have been sterilized before high school.

Safety of ATVs is a big item now in Canada. The tv program claimed there are
a million of them in canada butthey are the most unregulated vehicle out
there.
