Looking for free software...

Accidentally deleted a file and cleared it from my recycle bin. The
software I downloaded (supposedly free) only "sees" the file, but won't
recover it till I spend a bunch of bucks;( Anybody know of any real free
software that doesn't come loaded with spyware? Thanks in advance. I
hate to spend money for one lousy file.

What? A network maven like you who owns and operates an ISP doesn't have
backups available on a server?

Recuva is free and it works. While at the site, check out defraggler and
ccleaner:

That response wasn't even remotely helpful.

Hey, dumbass, what do you do if you've deleted said file before your
scheduled backup? You DO know that some people actually CREATE files
as opposed to your childish cut and pastes, don't you?

Tisk, tisk, Harry... we all make mistakes. I once removed my entire backup
set thinking it was the bad disk, not the good one. Sh*t happens!

Keep a folder of utilities - sometimes they go away.
I've got something called Handy Recovery 1.0 that works fine.
It was free with no strings.
Now I see they're up to 4.0 and you pay.
