True; in medieval Japan there was all-out war between two Kyoto
temples over which was maintaining the orthodox teachings. Both
traditions still exist, with each one still maintaining temples.
Ironically, it was the fighting began with the priests, and the
doctrines they were fighting over were among the most liberal in the
Buddhist tradition, but power and wealth were also involved. The
fighting spilled over into feudal domains and lasted most of a
century.

Anyone that is involved with rescuing dogs knows better than to chain
a dog outside overnight. In fact, if he belongs to a rescue group,
and they knew this, they would see to it that he never "rescued" one
again.
