The Ohio River leads to the world via the Mississippi River, either
south to the Gulf of Mexico or north to the Great Lakes/St Lawrence
River. I've met some very serious boaters from Louisville and there
is certainly no shortage of old time disposable income in and around
that area.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, Wayne.

Giant boat shows merge, and it's going to be in Louisville Ky next
year. It's about a three hr. drive from me, but it'll be worth the
trip.

Ouch.... 7.5 hrs for me, but it really seems like a lot more
affordable venue. I didn't see a date set.... too early?

That's nothing.
the biggest boat show up here is in Toronto....in February.
A 2.5 *day* drive each way over snowy, icy roads.

Sounds like it might be a great motorcycle ride from DC.

I don't know. On second thought, 613 miles would be a rough day's
ride. Doable, but not 'easily' doable. Especially just for a boat
show.

Actually, I'm wondering if this is a 'boat show' or a combination
'boat building' and 'aftermarket accessories' show.

It sounds to me like the worlds largest and temporary Cabella's store,
then.

Maybe more will manifest about the show as time gets closer to the
event?

Here's some info about the IBEX Miami Beach show in October.

"General Show Info

Admission Policy

IBEX is a professional-only trade show specifically designed for those
engaged in the marine industry. No one under 18 years of age—including
infants—will be allowed into the seminars and exhibit halls."

Further:

Admission Policy

IBEX is for the TRADE ONLY, and is not open to the general public. You
must be directly involved in the marine industry to attend. A business
card showing your affiliation to the marine industry is required to
register."

From: http://www.ibexshow.com/attendee-registration.php

I changed my mind. I don't want to go. Maybe the Annapolis show would
be a better idea, although some shady characters go there.
