There is a lot of "loss of rights" talk here but the recent DUI
checkpoint stop here is chilling when you think about it.
The 72 year old guy seemed a little unsteady but he blew a 0.0
The cop then took urine and he tested positive for a drug he said he
wasn't taking using the test strips that are notoriously inaccurate.
He was arrested on the spot.
The problem is these urine tests may be indicating something you took
a week ago, under a doctor's supervision.
So you could have had a colonoscopy last week, get stopped and still
show positive for that cocktail of drugs they give you.
You are going to jail.
Certainly a good lawyer will probably get you off but bear in mind the
lawyer fee is the same for getting an innocent person off as getting
off a guilty one. That is not refunded by the state.
This is simply MADDness. Political correctness run amok.
This also has boating content since DUI laws in most states apply to
boats too.

Know a guy who tried to commit suicide. He took 56 .5mg Xanaxes. People
found him unconscious in his car, and since the keys were in there, and they
found the empty pill bottle, he was arrested. They took him to the
hospital, semiconscious. He was able to blow a breathalyzer twice.
Alcohol - .0000 Blood drawn at the hospital. Hospital lab found methadone
and no xanax. (man couldn't pick out a methadone pill if you pointed a gun
to his head) Blood sample sent to State Lab came back negative for ANY
pharmaceutical or illegal drug. Took 14 months from start to finish. Lots
of horror stories about false positives, and a few who fall through the
cracks because of faulty testing, too.
