At first it looked as if the Cash for Clunkers was working and the
Bozomites actually shovelled more money into it. Now, dealers are dropping out of the program because they are not getting paid for the clunkers by the Bozoma admin. If they cannot run something as simple as this what makes you think they can run a healthcare program costing nearly a trillion dollars/yr. |

Did you notice that GM has gained strength and is even calling back laid off employees? Did you notice that Ford is showing profit? Of course not, because you think that everything liberal is bad. There seems to be a lot of glee for a plan that sold Japanese cars 80% of the time. Exactly who were we bailing out? I'm not enthralled with the program, but I can't be too critical of things that were done when we were facing "the greatest financial situation since the Great Depression". One year later, I don't hear that kind of talk, so, I guess, they did something right. We did buy an "American" car but it was made in Canada Well, there are a lot fewer Ford Explorers on the road today. http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...a2VyLXRyYWRlcw |

Unemployment is still increasing, there is all that borrowed money to payback. Foreclosures are increasing and now it is not the sub-prime loans, it is those that have lost their jobs and can not make the payments. |

They get crushed. I haven't been paying much attention to the program, but I was under the impression that only the motor had to be destroyed, that the body could be parted. Although, I would guess, with the glut in the market, they might just crush them. |

They are allowed to part them out but most are being crushed around here. We don't really have any junk yards. The "Make America Beautiful" people zoned them all away. Florida, right? I noticed that. I had a friend who used to call me, when he needed unusual parts. I'd buy them at my local junk yard, I mean Auto Salvage, and send them down. Usually, with shipping, it was still cheaper for him, than buying them local. |

I dont' realy know, but I thought there was an option of stripping it of anything usable in a period of 180 days then it had to be crushed. |

When I was a kid my dad was building a tractor. He bought a landing flap gearbox from a B-17. Bought a nice piece of plate exactly the right size for the crossmember to mount it on. Too bad it was armor and nearly undrillable, expecially with whatever drills the local hardware store had. He used a hand drill, a big one with a half inch chuck, and a big gear with a crank handle on it. Casady |
