Towing the Tolman to Cedar Key and back was kinda shocking in terms of
finally getting the mpg while towing; 13 mpg. This is with my new
Nissan 4wd Frontier and the Tolman is a fairly light boat. I think
the old Dodge Ramcharger would do just as well (8 cyl 318). The
Nissan has trouble accelerating while towing whereas the Dodge does
not.

Pulling the 19' travel trailer with my 4Runner cuts the mileage in
half to 12 or thereabouts.

Haven't pulled the boat far enough to get a reading.

Saw a monster travel trailer with an adequate tow vehicle. A twin
screw Kenworth. As rectangular as a brick, no concession to drag.
Regular fifth wheel that a small thing on the end of a gooseneck fit
right in. You can get a tractor with a million miles on it pretty
reasonable. Get another quarter million at least out of it even if it
could use a routine overhaul.
