Of course not.

You actually invited that ungrateful 'soldier' out for a cruise on
your boat......what does he do in response?
Quite a piece of work.

Actually, I invited him out a couple of times, including once when his
boat was out of service for a while. He was a **** then, and he's a ****

You can't buy friendship with a ride on a steeenkin skow. I expect Mr.

The senator was absolutely correct. That general would not have
addressed a male senator as mister. If he wanted to use that form of
speech, he could have properly and respectfully addressed her as Madam
Senator, madam being the full form of ma'am. "Senator," would have been
sufficient, as would have "Senator Boxer."

Last time I knew, the military protocol for addressing senior
officers is either "yes/No Sir, or Yes/Mo Ma'am. Even to the point
where it becomes a natural habit. I address others with Sir/Ma'am,
even to this day because it was the way I was taught while young.

I'm sure the general meant no offense, and to him he was following a
proper protocol.

OK so Boxer thought it uncouth. well, I think it was her problem, not
his.

maybe being addressed as "Senator" makes her feel more important.
Maybe she has low self esteem or something.

You can tell by listening to the General that he addressed her as
"ma'am" purposely to indicate disrespect for her or her official
title. Sure he did.

He screwed up, that's all. A simple, innocent and human mistake.
I am sure this is hard to understand by those who never make mistakes.

During the exact same committee meeting General Walsh referred to the
male Senators at the hearing as "sir" without receiving even a dirty
look for any faux pas in protocol. Sure the correct protocol would have
been Senator, but the male senators focused on the purpose of the
meeting, instead of worrying about someone inadvertently using the wrong
title.

Just curious, what have you "invented" for which you have been issued a
patent or patents that might be something that interests me as a
boater.
or even just an ordinary consumer and buyer of
computer/electronic/photographic technology?
I mean, you talk a lot about inventions, and you surely have put
forth a
number of less than half baked ideas for products that might be of
interest here. Which have you developed to fruition? Who is selling
them? What is their brand name? How many units have been sold?
Maybe he'll answer those questions when you answer questions like:

For Harry: Go to the USPTO website, click on search. go to the
keyword input spot and put in:"David OHara, X-ray" and you will see.
Otherwise, you can go to my company website by googling "Parallax
Research, Inc., X-ray".
As far as who is selling our products, that is always proprietary (We
have NDA in place so I cannot tell you) but they are the largest names
in analytical instrumentation and in the semiconductor business.
I do not try to develop consumer products because I admit to being
"aesthetically challenged" meaning I have poor taste.
Nothing of interest to boaters unless you are a materials science
person. My first attempt to patent was for an anti-fouling compund to
be applied while the boat was in the water. I personally did the
search and found it had already been developed by a British company.
Since then I have stuck to x-ray stuff that pays my bills. I think 6
patents and 3 in the works.

Yeah, I know of your x-ray stuff, since I visited your site a long time
ago.

So, you've got nothing that would interest boaters or just ordinary
consumers who buy computers/electronics/photo technology for hobbies?

Incompetant duds. They are our employees! They are not royalty. And
with an approval rating less than the former President's. You think they
might engage their brain.

I'm sure you meant no disrespect for the high office if Senator of the
United States of America. How a bunch of incompetant slime balls attained
seats in the Senate is beyond me. What is really sad is that one of the
aforementioned is likely to be the next President of the United States of
America.

In the Senate, it is the Senators who are the important ones. There are
only 100 of them (99 at the moment); it is the most exclusive elected
official federal government club in this country. Generals are a dime a
dozen.

Big whoop. Elected officials. Public servants with a dismal approval
rating.
If I were a sitting Senator right now I am not so sure I'd be so proud of
it.

Pure, unadultrated ego on her part.

Typical - you're no fan of democracy, but a big fan of the military.
Well, it's no easy task becoming one of 100 U.S. senators. Any idiot,
and I mean that in the fullest sense of the phrase (e.g., Herring,
floridajim) can become part of the military.

Here's the problem: A year ago all those generals were working for
Bush, and they were implementing his policies. Therefore, the
Democrats had to treat them like ****, which they did.

Now we have the same generals implementing the same policies, for the
most part, and the Democrats *want* to treat them like ****. But, the
generals have a new top dog, who is also a Democrat. This puts the
Boxer's of the world in a hard place. They have to take their
satisfaction any way they can.

Has owned more than 20 boats in his lifetime.
Sailed large boats competitively.
Has been hundreds of miles from land in a powerboat

And who set a new record for the most distance covered

My post had nothing to do with democracy or the military.

Having said that however, the general deserves a compliment for maintaining
his professional demeanor and not allowing his personal feelings to overcome
it, as she did.

I wonder what the old battle axe would have done if when she
