It's definitely a 'green' car. (Yuck, yuck, yuck)

I wonder if they'll do it in pink also.

I never underestimate the American ability to make a green car go
faster. I knew a guy who had a V-8 Nash Metropolitan.

It reminded me of the Gee Bee Model R of Jimmy Doolittle fame.

That flying death trap? Well, I can understand your reasoning.

I hope it was easier to drive than the GB was to pilot......

Not really. It was just scary. The center of gravity was way too high
and the suspension was not really up to the weight, even with bigger
springs.

He built it as a winter project in his garage, lots of welding and
work at the machine shop making shortened drive shaft, axles etc. He
sold it before he killed himself. It was pretty cool though, sitting
at a light with that 283 grumbling out of 2 cherry bomb glass packs
then lighting up the tires as it disappeared into the distance.
If you were around Oxon Hill or other places in Southern PG county
(1966-7 or so) you might have seen it. Nasty Rambler green with a
white top and fat rear tires.
It would have been quicker if it didn't have that 2 speed powerglide
trans. It was what he had.

How coincidental. I was in OCS and my wife was in an apartment in Oxen
Hill from August '66 to Feb '67. But, I got home only two weekends in
the six months, and I don't recall that nasty Rambler. We had a dark
green '65 Mustang six-cylinder which could carry everything we owned!

Dennis Grove?

Family had a 283 chevvy wagon. Twin pipes, solid lifters. Powerglide.
It would go 90 in low, although 60 was supposed to be tops. That ****
will wear a motor out as fast as racing, but I only did it once. If
you held the pedal down to engage the downshift switch, it would stay
in low. Normally it would shift at sixty even with the selector in
low. Probably turned 7500, what chevy small blocks do in a sprint car.
My car had the Kryptonite crank, heavy but unbreakable even with 800
hp. 2500 bucks.

Dennis Grove was an apartment complex where a lot of GIs lived

Could well be. Like I say, I helped my wife move in, and then I went
to Ft. Belvoir. From the apartment we could watch planes coming in to
National, and there were a bunch of them there, with a water tower
close at hand. There, that's the extent of my knowledge of the place.
I got to spend a grand total of about five nights there during my six
months of OCS. Needless to say, I had other things on my mind than the
name of the apartments.

This obsession with pink is going way beyond weird.
Why don't you just shout out loud...that you're proud.................

I'm proud to know someone who runs around in a pink RAV4!

Who...one of your former 'soldier boys'?
You trained them well... ~~ Snerk ~~

No, I didn't train you, Donnie. Harry did. But, except for the pink,
chickmobile, and your whiny, name-calling, petulant attitude, you
turned out OK.
