Just bought my first new boat and decided to try out this group!! Itis a ...

It is a white and blue 2007 Four Winns 190 Horizon. I have been riding
around on PWC's for three years and now decided it was time to step up
to a boat, a smaller one to start with. We live on a somewhat small
lake (Lake Freeman) in Monticello, Indiana next to Indiana Beach and I
wanted to get all my bumps and bruises out of the way. So anyway, the
boat has a wake tower and 225 volvo penta. It has all the options I
guess you need except a built in cooler (dang it). I would like to
maybe upgrade to a better stereo and maybe some accessories for the
wake tower. It also seems I now have to buy numerous things for the
boat that my PWC's really didn't need. Anyone have any thoughts on
what you might buy to keep on your first boat, besides an anchor and
life vests? Also what about Four Winns in general, this was a Repo and
has only 19 hours on it, so I didn't think I coulde go wrong. Thanks
for your help Mike

Hey Mike,

Sounds like you got a steal if it was a repo. Four-Winns makes a very nice
boat. The fit and finish has been top notch on every one I've seen.

On a boat that size, storage is most likely at a premium when you have a few
pax, so the first thing I'd get are wakeboard & ski racks for the tower. I'd
actually call that a necessity. If you plan to upgrade the stereo with a
high power head unit, or amp, I'd seriously consider a dual battery setup as
well. Wired properly, with an automatic charging relay, you can have one
batt for cranking, and one for playing. You don't want to be stranded
because of too much music on the sandbar. ;-)

Have fun.

You probably didn't go wrong at all. You let somebody else take the
bumps.

I'd suggest getting at least a cheap, yet reasonably comprehensive
first-aide kit. One that's sealed in plastic and hope you never have
to use it. I get them at Wal-mart, and put one in the boats stow-box
(glove compartment?) and leave it there. It's always sealed, if ready
needed. Also a small bottle of sun-blocker lotion doesn't hurt. Its
bad to be caught out thinking you didn't need it and wish you had it
before the damage was done, and best to have some sun protection than
none at all.

Montecello, eh? isn't that up by Logansport?

I would love to get more detail on this charging relay you mentioned.
I was thinking the exact thing you wrote. I want to upgrade the stereo
and we do have a sand bar that I will be visiting. I had already
planned to add the second battery for safety sake, but hadn't even
thought of trying to seperate it from other power for fun in the
sand. DO they sell a kit or something, or just make it out of normal
auto parts?

Yes fairly close to logansport home of Greg Kinnear. Hee Hee, that is
really the only thing I know about Logansport. The first aid kit is a
good idea thanks.

Actually not a bad price for all the parts.

Two cans of bug spray;) A fresh batch of mosquitoes can ruin an
otherwise perfect day. Always have extra fresh water too. We always
have a "go" bag on board with dry clothes, cell phone, snacks, money,
etc... Just in case of a break down, or even an invite to somewhere
you didn't expect to go like a party or a "special island" etc...

Hehe... Bill beat me to it. AAMOF, that's the same system I have on my boat.
It works like a charm.
