Maybe a missed opportunity

I am not an economist so I defer to those who are and those who know
more on the subject. However, it seems to me that times of deflation
are rare and although they can be painful, they may be an opportunity
to accomplish things. There have been worries about deflation with
the market dropping (read about the history of the depression for info
on deflation) and maybe we should allow this to happen maybe 5%.
THEN, the fed does a stimulus AND then buys back t-bills (Govt debt)
using money they print to bring deflation back to zero and then more
to bring inflation up to %5 for a couple years. A trillion dollar
stimulus that is 10% of govt debt would then turn out to be an actual
zero real increase in debt (and maybe less with 2 yrs of inflation).
We would get a stimulus with no real increase in govt debt.

I wouldn;t mine getting a stimulus since it is extra money that we are
getting. who really cares of the government is in debt or not. They
take so much money from us already each year. I guess deflation
wouldn't be so bad. It would be the best time to buy a lot of stuff
since that price is going down. Especially right now would be a very
good time to buy a house.

Umm.. WE are the government. It's OUR money they are throwing around.
The future of our children is *one* reason to care.
