Ahh. Well, for many years, we used to spend at least a week at Bal
Harbour in February. Beautiful beaches, not crowded at all, and terrific
fishing about a mile offshore.

Solution to Florida's population problems and development problems is
to outlaw Air Conditioning. My fantasy is to develop a bio-engineered
bacteria that eats freon.

Harry is in my KF on most computers so I'd guess fishing leaves a lot
to be desired. That said, the convenience and cost savings of having

Come on down; weather is great and the guest room is empty. Let me
know what flight to meet and how many people are coming. I picked up
a friend of ours flying in from Seattle last night and the airport was
packed with snow bird arrivals from all over.

It's not really clear if Harry is welcome in Florida. Either he or
his evil twin is sort of a persona non grata here if you get my drift.
Not having a full time job is an issue also since his primary means of
support works in DC.

If it weren't for tourists, you and your albino relatives would be
sitting on a rotting wood porch, trying to figure out how to play the
banjo and wondering the broken refrigerator there was actually used for...

For boating, sure. The property values of true ocean-front property are
still holding well since the super-rich can afford them. They are still
tearing down huge homes on the ocean to build bigger homes.

No, one of our neighbors who sort of commutes back and forth. There
are a surprising number of people here from the PNW.

5 years ago that was true. Everyone came down I-75 but in the last
boom people figured out how to get across from I-95 without getting

If my boat was in a marina I probably wouldn't use it very much.
Certainly not 4 or 5 times a week. The trick is finding a short canal
with no traffic and nobody out your

ever see any boat traffic and it is a very private yard.


I don't think I could ever get used to living in south Florida because
of the heat from April through October. But obviously lots of folks
like it.

I really don't think it is any hotter here in the summer than it was
in DC. I remember lots of days over 100 there in the summer. It never
gets much more than the mid 90s here if you are near the water. The
real difference is at night but that is what AC is for. Now if 50-60
is your favorite temperature, we don't have much for you here 9 months
of the year.
I like 75-85 myself but I boat and swim in my pool a lot.


75-85 is also my preferred summertime temp.
When we lived in north Florida, I'd have business trips a few times a
month to south Florida, both on the Miami side and on your side, well,
usually in Tampa-St. Pete. Almost always, as soon as I got off the plane
in your latitudes in the spring or summer, I was knocked over by the
heat.


Reminds me of reporting to Puerto Rico for duty while in the Navy. I flew
to San Juan in October, wearing my winter dress uniform. Stepped out of
the airplane upon arrival and felt like I got punched in the stomach. It
took about a month to acclimate.

Same thing in Biloxi, Mississippi. After awhile you acclimatized. Came
home on leave about the 4th of July and nearly froze next to San Francisco
Bay.
