"workers of the nation unite..."

Subject line is from an old Kinks song.
However, what amazes me is how so many people who were born with
silver spoons in their mouths can with a straight face say they
understand what blue collar workers want or need. People like Neil
Young or John Mellencamp sing about working men but have never really
worked a day in their lives ( I still like Neil Youngs music although
I have to listen to Lynerd Skynerd afterwards). When I was in grad
school, the nonsense I heard spouted by lefties was incredibly naive
concerning what blue collar types wanted. I actually had worked for 3
years in the oil field to save money for grad school so I did know.
In fact, most of these spoiled lefties could not even imagine the
lives of working men or their concerns. They truly thought that
working men were some sort of noble breed and they said they envied
their "simple lives". Nobody who has ever done a days worth of work
could possibly take such BS seriously. Yet, we still hear from people
about what working men need from clueless types here.
