I assume you are talking about updates from Quicktime.

There is an option where you can turn off auto updates, and when you
install Quicktime, the default setting is to "Keep me up to date with
Apple news, software updates, and the latest information on products and
services."

I never check this option, but I would think you can "unsubscribe" to
this service.

I do/have/continue to do so - they keep sending it to me.

I've even bitched about it directly - they sent me instructions to
reinstall QT Pro so that it doesn't do it again - it still keeps doing
it.

It seems like every time QT "updates" (which is just another way of
saying "what have you been listening to or watching with QT lately" as
I've never used iTunes for anything other than loading my iPod), this
crap happens.

Apple is getting as bad as Google in that respect.

Dorks.

Gee, what do you do when something really annoys you, Tom? Load up that
flintlock from your years in the service and shoot out streetlights?
But, hey..."Reggie" is *the man* for computer advice. If he can't help
you, why, try JustHate or...the guru's guru...Herring.

If that fails, ask someone who knows.

Time flies when you are sick and psychotic.

Try Option B

Open Control Panal
Click on Quicktime
Click on "updates" tab - verify that it is not set for auto update
Click on "Streaming" tab - verify that the "enable instant on" is not
checked.

If that doesn't correct the problem. Walk out the garage and get a
large hammer .....

It's more like "we want to see what you've been listening or watching"
Big Brother bull**** updates" - that seems to be when it happens -
right after the "updates".

Dip****s.
