The place where you mention almost buying a house, are you talking
about Manomet Point? My brother lived there in a house on the bluffs
next to where the lobster pound is during the Blizzard O' 78. There
was quite a bit of erosion and he said he could feel the ground shake
when chunks of the cliffs let go. The next day the he went outside to
find the edge of the cliff a lot closer to the street in front of the
house than it was the day before. The house is still there today
though.

I did not know about the flight sim feature even though I play with
Goggle Earth at least a few times a week . Thanks for mentioning it..

I think that I need to work on my piloting skills though. I was going
to try to find Otis AFB and land there but instead my plane is now
scattered on a golf course somwhere near Buttermilk Bay.

The place we looked at was a little further south from Manomet, off of exit
2 of Rt.3.
I had dreams of a mooring with our boat sitting out there, but it wasn't
meant to be.

The FS is pretty good, but it helps to have some basic knowledge of flying
an airplane.

I've got Microsoft Flight Simulater X. It's a really fun program,
especially if you have enough computing power to run everything in

Hey, that was my Christmas present this year.. I have always been a
fan of the Flight Simulator, used to take long flights overnight while
running other programs and doing other work.. Thank God for
autopilot;) One of my favorite flights was from JFK or Bradley to
Logan, I also used to do a lot of flying around San Fran and the bay.
I havn't checked yet but in my old program there was a neat "Easter
Egg". If you flew out of New York and around behind the Statue of
Liberty, the programmers had it as a big cardboard cutout with a stick

I'm having a hard time with the VFR flight on a 747 from Las Vegas to
Area 51. I can get there okay, but finding just the right spot to
park, thus ending the mission, hasn't happened yet!

On the X version you can find the carriers off of San Francisco,
Norfolk, and Bremerton. FS9 has one in the latter. I really like the
FSX, but as Loogy mentioned they are a real pig if you run the scenery
full out. I started out using a joystick, but eventually switched to the
CH-products Yoke and rudder pedals.
Its pretty neat, but I wish I had a gaming? computer to use it on. UD

Crap, I can't get the joystick to work with Planet Earth.

I bought a high powered video card and it helped a LOT.
If you are doing the "missions" in X, and are doing the one where you
are going from Catalina to the mainland, the engine expires. The first
time, I tried to glide to land and didn't make it. Look for an
aircraft carrier and land on it!
