With such a less amount of water, what water is there would be much
hotter due to less volume, not counting the bed of the lake being
exposed to the suns rays and heat. And seeing that the AC of E
controlled a massively huge draining of the lake, is it possible that
there has been damage done to the soil concerning algae growth, fish
population etc. That ancient body of water took quite a shock last
year, and I was wondering about damage and if any, is it irreparable?

just curious.

Lake Lanier is an ancient body of water? I thought it was a man-made
lake about 50 years old.

Could be. and I'm probably mistaken I thought it had been around for
practically forever. But still it's established and it wasnt' made
yesterday.

Tim, the project started in 1950. It's a very interesting project. You
have to remember, back in those days, those mountains were out there,
and the people were quite clan-ish and didn't want to be bothered!
It's a beautiful area, especially in summer.

Actually, the lake is hosting the largest fishing tournament in the

Maybe in 2 years things will be OK, but I wouldn't put any eggs in

Lanier is 20 feet low and predicted to go lower! The level is so low
that Action Zone 4 is in effect. IOW, "Zone 4 indicates that

My lake levels are rising, however.....! A benefit of global

Gene, they haven't updated since we've been getting rain. Also, the
ramps that you've mentioned are only the Corps ramps. They close them
even though the are still in the water because a lot of people that
use those particular ramps sometimes don't know what they are doing,
have huge boats (even a huge houseboat manufacturer uses them), etc.
Fishings good, people are still running all over, motorboats,
sailboats, everything. Is the lake low? You bet. But, it fluctuates a
lot in winter anyway. And it's not at the record, which is good seeing
how at the end of summer we started out very low.

Unless you:

1) Have a static IP OR don't mind paying for a Dynamic DNS Service

AND

2) Really *want* an extensive hobby configuring and running Apache

I'd go with one of the Web Hosting services (which also come with lots
of other perks and amenities) and let them worry with the hardware
acquisition and maintenance, software configuration, security
headaches (you'll need a dedicated IP or you'll have to open a port to
the server(s)), and up/down time.

Though I'd be glad to help.....

Yeah...I'm sure you are right.

I do have a windows home server, which I can use as a a generic server,
sort of.

I've never known him to call you a name, but I could be wrong. As I said,
I'm not into netcopping anyone. I'm into reaching an agreement with you
whereby we both ignore insults and stop the retribution. Reggie has nothing
to do with it. You should, if he bothers you, be able to ignore it. Or, if
he asks you a question, give him a responsible answer.

For example:

Reggie - "Harry, how much does it cost to shrink wrap your lobster boat?"

You - "I don't have a lobster boat. Therefore, I wouldn't know."

Easy. No name-calling, no nothing. Just an answer.

Another example:

You - "So, how many women and children did you kill in Vietnam, Herring?"

Me - "None, but I did go out on DENTCAPs and MEDCAPs."

Easy. No name-calling, no insults, just an answer.

If others feel like participating, that's fine with me. I have no
difficulties reaching agreement with agreeable people who are acting on
their own behalf. I have many years of experience doing that in the real
world.

There's no "quid" without the "pro quo."

This is freking hilarious..The Windoze expert who has successfully
installed a plug and pray hard drive (probably with help from Geek

Where did you conjure up the idea I wanted to run a news server?

I don't.

Idiot.
Why the name-calling, Harry.

John...I said I wasn't going to insult you so long as you reciprocated.
I have no interest in your net-copping or attempts to modify my behavior
towards others.

If you are so interested in net-copping, ask your buddy Justwait his
every other post is an insult aimed at someone.

Net copping is not my interest. My interest is an agreement with you, who
complains frequently about other people attacking you.

I wondering if you can be man enough to put your pistols (insults and
name-calling) in your desk drawer and leave them there.

Why worry about Justwait? I don't worry about Salty and slammer.

John...I've given you my response. If you and I have an agreement, fine.
If others feel like participating, that's fine with me. I have no
difficulties reaching agreement with agreeable people who are acting on
their own behalf. I have many years of experience doing that in the real
world.

There's no "quid" without the "pro quo."

That's a shame, Harry. I had thought maybe you'd have it in you to help
make some changes. It would, obviously, be a little rough. Maybe too rough
for you.

I made no deal. I suggested a deal. You refused, apparently because you
don't feel you could control your behavior.

Personal responsibility.

And, John, while you are at it, perhaps you can net-cop "Reggie" into

Johnny has little control over his Dope irregulars.
Maybe we can send him off to officers school to learn how to instill
dicipline in the ranks.

This presents a good teaching opportunity.

Hey Don, glad to see all is well with you!

Were you able to do some sightseeing in the bay today? Where do you launch
your boat in Halifax?

Sightseeing in the bay??
The nearest 'bay' is between 20 and 30 minutes drive from my house and at
17F, it's a bit cold to go roaming around.
There are numerous public launch ramps in Halifax.... depending on whether
you want to boat in the 'Arm', the 'Basin', Inner Harbour...etc

whew......boy! When he gets his board up and running, he'll ban

I was trying to be supportive. You were upset about JohnH attempts to
have you control your anger, and heck, after 50 plus years, it is hard
to stop cold turkey. If you stop with JohnH one week, the next week
you can move to someone else and before you know it, you are not
calling anyone names.

As usual, your interpretations are incorrect. Further, as I have stated
a zillion times, there is no opinion of yours that interests me, nor do
I give any credence to your advice.

We both know what game you are playing.

You are playing the game, WAFA. You chose to respond.
