Dog vs lobster
The wife put a lobster, and then another on the floor to see what the dog
would do. What a hoot...he kept going up to them woofing, backing off, howling a pit and then repeating the sequence. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...onlobster2.jpg and: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...2lobstersB.jpg |

I take the rubber bands off when I do that with my German Shephard Dog. It
doesn't matter, a lobster is the only thing I've ever seen scare him. He won't go within 4 feet of the critter(s). I think he nudged one in the head with his nose once, and the spines got him. Ever since then, he just stands off and barks at it. I always save a bit for him when we're done... sweet revenge. g --Mike "Calif Bill" wrote in message m... The male thought we were doing him a favor bringing a young babe into the house for him to hump all day and all night. After two days of the male trying to hump the bitch he has never tried again. We never say the scene where the bitch laid down the law but, ever since then the male has had to deal with being a notch lower on the totem pole. I guess that's why he chases the cat around the house so much. Ours Beagle's spend their time in the backyard squirrel hunting. They've only caught one in two years. And, they only bark when a neighbor is mowing the lawn or when the wife's car is driving down the street coming home. |

What does your GSD do when he hears thunder? My 110 lb GSD would would try and get under the bed when he heard thunder, firecrackers or other loud noises. He looked damn funny with his head under the bed and his body, from the neck to the tail, sticking out. Currently we have a Beagle mutt male. Worst thunder storm in the world could go right over our house. He would just stand there. I always save a bit for him when we're done... sweet revenge. g Beagle's are interested in only one thing and that is eating. They ignore all other stimulus. I don't' know. My neighbor used to have beagles, and they did a good job of howling all night. Occasionally he'd take them rabbit hunting, so he said. Actually I think he kept them around just to bug the neighborhood. We actually have two Beagle mutts. A male and a bitch. We got the male first in 2003. and the bitch a couple of years later. You need a full-sized Maine coon cat to straight out those pooches. Once the current cat dies we are done with cats. Too bad. Maine coon cats are great pets. Our cat is too old to pee and crap outside. No more kitty kat crap boxes in the house. Here's a couple replacements. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2.../TheCats-1.jpg If you'd like, I could dress them out as rabbits, breaded and everything, ready to fry. Our Safeway sells dry ice. Or, I could ship 'em live, but that costs more. -- John Salmonbait |

Wife keeps talking about those Maine Coon cats... she wants something that can stand up to the neighbours half dozen cats that are always in our back yard. Our 17 year old female is tiny, under 7 pounds, but she used to try to put up a fight. Now she mostly sleeps or scolds the dog. Shop carefully. Properly bred Maine coon cats are quite a bit larger than ordinary house cats. http://www.verismocat.com/htmscripts/lrgimg.htm We have a runt of the litter Maine coon cat we saved from the outdoors. He's an absolutely terrific little cat, clean, smart, fast, and people-oriented. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ous/calboy.jpg |

He just looks in the direction of the noise. My last GSD did as yours, and went for cover. This one has a rock solid temperment. The breeder we got him from does a wonderful job, breeding for temperment and work. I started training him for Schutzund, but I didn't have the patience for the tracking part of it. --Mike "BAR" wrote in message ... Died of old age years wise, never grew beyond puppyhood. Would get out to scavenge the neighborhood for food. Had bagel in the mouth when a car hit him. Would not give up the bagel. Still clamped on it at the vets. Got in to the freezer one time and ate a pound of butter and 1/4 of a frozen turkey. We called Lance, Butterball after that episode. |

Four months later the pound called. He had that little microchip that tells who owns the dog when pinged electronically. We think someone stole the dog. Casady |
