That's if anyone was sober. That transmitter site was my last duty station in the Navy. Spent 2 years there. The ELF was still operating but the rest of the stuff was slowly being shut down, decommissioned and ripped out. I haven't been there for many years and often wonder what became of the place. I'll take that bet now. ~~ snerk ~~ Given the dismal record of Army for the past seven years, I'm surprised a whole bunch of folks didn't jump at an easy $5! Gotta give you credit. Your a good LOOOSSSSSEEEEERRRRR!!!!! Now, come clean up the mess at the Academy. Yeah. And for loooooosing, you have to wear bell bottoms and that stupid white sailor cover - or a dress. :) Money is one thing. That Navy outfit is another. Forget it. Gosh, I remember those heady days of Cub Scouts, where we first learned how to shine our sneakers, wipe off our buttons and exchange scarfs. Good training for the military, apparently. No wonder we were safe, what with you cleaning the latrine stateside during your tour and Herring in Vietnam, making sure those nasty North Vietnamese didn't invade Topeka and carry off all the virgins. |

Why does the Army make you guys wear all of those patches. You guys trying to emulate the boy scouts. A merit badge for this, a merit badge for that? It is some of that, for sure. The Ranger, Airborne, Expert Infantry Badge, and maybe one or two others are the only 'merit' badges. The shoulder patches indicate unit affiliation, on the left, and the last combat unit affiliation on the right. And then there's the name, US Army, and rank. But, if a soldier comes back from Iraq and is assigned to a different unit and gets promoted, he used to have to pay someone to sew on four new patches on each set of fatigues (minimum 4 sets). PITA! -- John H. |
