It is exactly ten years ago today when RBP regular Scott Bristow died at
Great Falls of the Potomac. Although it is said that time heals all wounds, Scott's loss is still felt today. For those who did not know him: http://kayaker.nl/scott.html The positive side of this sad event was that it brought many RBP'ers closer together, in an online boating community that was unlike any I've ever witnessed since. I'm grateful to have been a part of that community. -- Wilko van den Bergh wilkoa t)dse(d o tnl Eindhoven The Netherlands Europe ---Look at the possibilities, don't worry about the limitations.--- http://kayaker.nl/ |

Hey WIlko,
And others I too was thinking of Scott this last couple weeks. 10 years is a long time and a lot of water under a lot of bridges. And a lot of boating done ---- 10 years is long time to be gone and alot of life to miss.... I am planning to hike down to the Observation Deck at Great Falls today. Its fairly cold here in Maryland today but crystal clear... The level is about the same - I don't know if there will be any Falls boaters out but there will be Herons... sheila |

Wilko, it is so nice that someone remembers him. Thank you. This seems to be a particularly difficult year for me. Our parents are getting divorced - though it is really a good thing, I wish he were here as our family is going through all this craziness. |

Sherri, because only a few of us post here any more, you might get the wrong impression. There are a lot more people who remember him, but most of them aren't that vocal about it. Phil Urban on Boatertalk wrote a message about Scott guiding him down Section IV of the Chattooga, after them meeting here on RBP. He helped out people and made friends everywhere. Who knows how many of those ever were on RBP or BT? As for your parents getting divorced, I hope that it all turns out better than things are now. Wishing you a lot of strength to deal with it! -- Wilko van den Bergh wilkoa t)dse(d o tnl Eindhoven The Netherlands Europe ---Look at the possibilities, don't worry about the limitations.--- http://kayaker.nl/ |
