Comments -- John H. Big giggle Great friend! Hey, JimH, glad you're back. You must have missed a reply I made to you about saying nasty untrue things about peoples' family members and spouses. Here it is, please let me know if you want to take the wager.... wrote: Hey, just wondering if you saw my reply to you about saying things about people's families here in rec.boats? You said you've never done that. I said that if I re-post posts that you've made doing exactly that, will you go away and never post here again under any handle? I'll go one better, if I can't provide proof that you've said such, *I* will go away and never come back. Deal? |

Also, a good friend and auto mechanic suggested removing the plugs on the outboard, spraying the cylinders with WD40, spinning the engine a couple times, and then putting the plugs back in. Comments A big *NO* on the WD40. It was never designed to be more than a Water Dispersant, which is does well. It is not a lubricant, though it is marketed as such. It is roughly 2/3 solvent and 1/5 oil.... the remaining 2/15 is propellant and god-knows-what.... (Works pretty good as a starting fluid, though!) http://www.wd40company.com/files/pdf...d494716385.pdf Use this or the like for fogging: http://www.westmarine.com/1/1/9540-fogging-oil.html As for comments regarding fuel additives, here are some thoughts from various sources that I put together a few weeks ago. Comments, errors, deletions..... anyone? http://pamandgene.tranquilrefuge.net...ce/gasohol.htm Thanks Gene. I appreciate the reply. I wouldn't have used the WD40, but I was surprised that an auto mechanic would suggest it. But then again, auto mechanics probably don't do a lot of outboard winterizations. My friend doesn't own a boat. BTW, good article on ethanol. -- John H. |
