Mobile broadband - can anyone recommend ?

We are going to be living in the motorhome for a while. I've been trying to
research a mobile internet service via either a usb modem or G3 card. I
need a service that has good coverage in Scotland and the Carlisle area.

Weve already ruled out Orange as we know from experience that its at best
patchy and a lot of areas no service at all. I dont think I will be able to
persuade hubby to drive 20 miles up the road just so I can log in to the
newsgroups.lol!

I have found that t-mobile and vodaphone both do a similar service. Are
there any more? Can anyone recommend a service that they are using while on
the road?

I have used T-Mobile Hotspots for 2 years now in the Netherlands. I
was an early user so I
frequently spent hours on the phone with no doubt pimple-faced, so
called specialists
when the network was down. Things improved over time and after some
six months the
product was considered ripe enough and than a huge amount of
administrative problems
presented themselves after transferring the service from the project
organisation over to
the standing organisation. Customers were of no real concern here...
All in all IMO T-Mobile is a very young and in some areas incompetent
organisation not aware
of modern customer approach.

I should conclude in a more positive way so I will: the last year the
network only broke down three times.
Mean time till restart was a day sometimes "only" 6 hours.
The network in NW Europe is concentrated in Germany. Every user is
automatically logged out after
6 hours, even when transactions are processing and the user has to log
in again.
Speed is average, in busy moments (working hours) it's around 60 kBps
downlinkand 20 kBps up.
At nights and very early mornings it's around 100down /45up.

When you want toknow more fire away. I have no experience outside the
Netherlands.
I am dropping the contract after 2 years.

HTH,
Regards,
Len.
