Solar panel regulator size
 

Apologies for what may be a simple question. Local chandler has 10 amp
regulators for only $10 more than the 6amp model. 10 amp is way above
my needs but other than $10 is there any downside to using the higher
rated regulator?

And while I'm at it what's the best practice for joining the solar wire
to the battery post. I.e are there connectors to join to the existing
large connector?

Any battery shop has battery posts with wing terminals on them to connect
RING terminals (not spade lugs, please. Spade lugs come off easy and don't
belong anywhere on a boat....grrr.)

Go bigger and you can add another panel or move to a larger one with
the same controller. No downside I'm aware of. Have a look here

I went another way. I have a bias against running multiple wires to
the battery. I installed 3 buss bars rated to handle starting loads -
1 positive for each battery bank and 1 common ground to both
negatives. All the loads and charge sources go to the bars.
