Sitex GPS Plotters and Waypoint Uploading

Does anyone know if there is software that will allow waypoint
uploading from a PC to a newer Sitex Gps plotter?

Matt Colie June 20th 05 03:58 AM

David,

I hate to be the bearer of ill news, but no.

A client bought one and has since removed it for this reason.

The only choice is to buy a C-Map Planner package (~200$us). That is a
package of software, C-Map user memory and a USB writer. That will
allow you to configure waypoints and write then to the C-Map memory and
then pull them into the Sitex.

Needless to say, this prevents any realtime route changes while underway
(a common issue in keel boat racing).

It will output NMEA navigational data for your autopilot and tactical
package. But like so many navigators - It just doesn't listen....

Sorry,

I have a question: the Si-Tex plotter can read NMEA messages WPL/RTE?
If it can do this, it could receive the wpts and routes from any PC
software wich could send these NMEA messages. And maybe, another gps
could send its wpts and routes to the Si-Tex plotter too?

Pascal,

No Si-Tex that uses C-map can receive WPL/RTE data via the NMEA input.

It will send data for external ploting and autopilot, but that is just
about it. I was going to work on this more, but the owner just informed
me that he is giving up on the unit.

I am scheduled to remove another Si-Tex next week because the owner
can't load race information without the extra stuff and hwe does not
like the fact that he can not share date between the naviagtor and the
tactician's GPS.

It is a shame because it is the first Chart Plotter I know to have
support to an AIS receiver. BTW, I do not found in your site, the NEW
Si_Tex (?) NASA AIS radar or the NASA Black Box AIS Engine.

Matt,

In your site, about the new chartplotter Garmin MFD 3005C, it says that
there is a LIMITED support to the GMR20/40 radar sensors. What are
these limitations compared to the others two MFD's 3006 and 3010?

Thanks

Pascal

Pascal,
My site is not specific. I do hope you do not think I am actually
associated with a manufacture.
We just install and service what owners (most of whom are very serious
keel boat racers) want. I do my best to supply them with information
prior to purchase, but they do not always consult and, in the case of
Si-Tex, the manuals were never available on line for me to study.

Most Garmin manuals are on line and the support people respond to e-mail
in reasonable time.
