Thanks for all the input.
The major reason for having it at the top of the mizzen is the antenna can attain a clear view (relatively) of the horizon. There is not a lot of room on the stern rail as the mizzen boom gets a lot of use. A alternative is on the first spreaders of the mizzen which is 5m above the deck. I guess this is the best alternative. Been an interesting exercise. Boat won't be back in the water for a few months yet as we are getting a repaint and the teak deck replaced whilst we are in Thailand. Nice job but takes time!!!! Regards Tony S/V Ambrosia |
