Any recommendations as far as cordless headsets? Actually would like the
headset for two reasons, one to talk with mate during passage and anchoring,
and second to listen to music.

Love your heading! Is this another fancy term for someone with nothing
between the ears?

Remove "nospam" from return address.

We use a standard off the shelf FSR radio with hands free option
purchased from Circuit City or other retailer. Useful for two way
communications but won,t play music. Haven't seen one that will do
that.

Just saw a nice 500mw FRS radio with BellSouth's name on it at any Dollar
General store for the princely sum of only $8! Hell, at that price, you
can hardly afford to open it to change batteries!

How do Chinese slaves make a UHF FM, 14-channel synthesized walkie talkie
that RETAILS for $8?!!

Why can't they make a 5W marine VHF radio for twice that much??

That's easy to answer Larry. It is because the FRS Radios are made for
the General Population and they figure on building them by the
Gazillions, and any kind of Marine Radio is being sold into a very small
market, compared to the General Population Market.
