Tacho on Mercury 100hp

I recently bought a boat fitted with a 100hp Mercury outboard. There is a
tacho on the boat, presumably from a previous engine, and there is a
selector switch on the back for varying number of cylinders (4 stroke) my
question is can I use this tacho with the 2 stroke Mercury/ and where would
the wires lead to?
Thanks .. Sam.

Tacho on Mercury 100hp

I used to have an old Mercury 85 blueline.. the tacho went onto the power
out plug.. there were 3 or 4 contacts.. one was 12v out to charge the
battery.. others were to the tacho.. Can't remember much more about it..
sorry
